Three Filipino women rescued from forced labor in Malaysia and sent back to the home country
In a disturbing case, 3 Philippine victims were liberated in Sabah, after being lured under fake employment. These women were promised jobs as waitresses but ended up being exploited in bars with illegal status.
Two of the victims arrived through unauthorized sea routes from southern Philippines, while the third had been trapped since a few years ago. They were found during a random police operation and taken into custody before being returned to the Philippines.
Havannah Agency, a accredited employment firm, warns all OFWs to double-check the legitimacy of any job offer, especially those posted on social media.
> "This is a clear example of why official processes matter," said a spokesperson of our agency.
The Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia Maid immigration enforcement worked together to assist the victims. They are now undergoing reintegration by the DMW.
